Real Wedding || Rosie & George || May 2021

A note from us…

Rosie & George – finally!

After 1 cancellation, Rosie & George’s wedding finally went ahead and what an incredible day it was. They have been a delight to work with throughout, both were incredibly kind and calm regarding the ever changing restrictions. Their day itself was magical. The happiness of Rosie, George and their guests spread across our team and we had just as much fun as they did. A special shoutout to the special guest, Nella, our paw pal. What a treat it was to have you there for the day. We can’t wait for you to be back next year for your wedding reception.

Why did you choose the Pumping House for your special day?

The architecture, design & sheer wow factor. Particularly the parquet floors, entrance tiles, exposed brick, gorgeous big windows, huge engine hall, contemporary/industrial colours & design, attention to detail. It felt completely unique and nothing else could possibly compare. The amazing accommodation was an added bonus!

How did you find planning your big day with the team?

Jo, our wedding coordinator was so helpful, fun, laid back, friendly and everything we could have asked for!

How was your wedding day at The Pumping House?

Our wedding was perfect, despite Covid limiting our guest numbers we couldn’t have asked for anything better. The team went above and beyond to make our day so special and it never felt like a ‘covid wedding’, even for a second.

Would you recommend The Pumping House to other couples who are planning their big day?

We would 100% recommend The Pumping House. The most amazing venue with the most amazing staff who completely looked after us throughout.

Real Wedding || Claire & Ashley || May 2021

A note from us…

Claire & Ash waited patiently after each announcement, 5th time lucky they finally managed to say “I Do” on one of the nicest days in May. Their guest list may have been cut but their suppliers certainly were not!!

Why did you choose the Pumping House for your special day?

We absolutely loved the venue from the moment we arrived in the car park. We knew that we wanted a venue with history and original features; with Ash being an architect the building itself was pretty important. We were excited as soon as we stepped inside; from the entrance hall to all the different rooms upstairs and the incredible views from the intimate ceremony room, we could really see the venue working for us. Our wedding coordinator was so welcoming and helpful when we arrived too and communication from the off was outstanding.

Who was your wedding coordinator and how did you find planning your big day with them?

Ellie was our wedding planner in the first instance, but she handed us over to Jo when she went on maternity leave. They were both amazing. The handover happened shortly after we went into the first lockdown and we had just postponed our original date. Even in the madness of everything, they could not have handled things better. We honestly could not have asked for more from Jo – her response to emails was often instant and she was always at the end of the phone to help.

How was your wedding day at the Pumping House? Is there anything specific we did that made it extra special?

 AMAZING! I’m sure most couples say it, but we wouldn’t have changed a thing. Planning a wedding during COVID was stressful and emotional, and the build-up to what ended up being our fifth date was certainly not what we had envisaged when we first booked our wedding but when the day came, it was incredible and we’re so glad we held off. Even with restrictions still in place, it was the best day. This was helped massively by The Pumping House team who kept us calm and reassured in the lead up to the day. The team on the day were calm and professional (you’d never have known it was their first wedding in who knows how many months!) but were still friendly to all our guests. They went the extra mile by moving decoration items around from different locations during the day, and were constantly on hand whenever we, our guests or suppliers needed anything.

Just a huge thank you to all of the team but especially Jo for always being so calm, patient and understanding. 2020 was an incredibly difficult year for everyone but especially those in the hospitality and wedding sector and yet you still managed to always be there and support us with whatever we needed. We couldn’t have asked for more from you and we will be forever grateful for giving us the most incredible day.

Real Wedding || Steph & Ryan || September 2019

A Note From Us…

Steph and Ryan – The first time I met Steph and Ryan was back in September 2017, as we were walking around the venue I knew they both had amazing personalities and a great sense of humour, we were going to get on like a house on fire! Each time we met Ryan joked – I started to get a little worried when he said he was planning to have Elephants on arrival, something a little unique he joked. I received a phone call, again with what I was going to take with a pinch of salt until Ryan said they we’re pregnant, expecting a baby just two weeks after their wedding with Steph just laughing in the background…

Why Did You Choose The Pumping House For Your Special Day?

After originally having our heart set on a venue and then being let down, we visited several other venues and The Pumping House was our last of the day. We instantly fell in love with the venue and it just clicked. It was just so us. The open space, the parquet floor, the separate entertaining rooms upstairs and the quarters were everything we were looking for and more. We were so excited to share the venue with our quests.

Every Love Story Is Unique – Tell Us Yours?

Ryan and I met in 2015 on a night out. After a few weeks of dates, I went to Ryan’s house and pretty much never left! After 3 months we bought a house together and enjoyed our time with each other and with Ryan’s daughter each week. In May 2017 Ryan proposed at home and our wedding planning journey began. Just as we entered 2019 and our wedding was creeping up in the September, we found out we were expecting a little bundle of joy, which meant I would be 38 weeks pregnant on our wedding day and typically for us our lives and wedding plans all altered!

What Was Your Highlight Of The Day?

We absolutely loved our day and spending it with all of our loved ones. Ryan’s highlight was seeing his little girl and I walking down the aisle. My favourite moment was our amazing band playing the soundtrack too our wedding and the music played will stick with me forever and always bring a smile to my face.

What advice would you give to couples planning their special day?

We would advise other couples to plan their wedding day for them as a couple. Everyone else will love being there and surrounded by your love no matter what flowers you had or food they ate!

What Was On The Menu?

Our menu for the day was fantastic. We started with either Seared Beef Fillet Salad with Sweet Mustard Dressing or Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato with a Hint of Chilli Soup. For main course it was either Pan Fried Chicken Breast with a White Wine, Cream and Tarragon Sauce or Leg of Spring Lamb Roasted with Garlic and Rosemary, Red Wine Jus. For dessert we had Chocolate Fudge Brownies with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream or Eton Mess with Crushed Homemade Meringues, Mixed Berry Compote & Whipped Cream. All of the food was incredible.

  What Was Your Inspiration For The Day?

We didn’t have a specific theme or inspiration for the day other than tying in things that we loved. We are big gin drinkers and therefore collected all different gin bottles for our centrepieces which we filled with flowers and fairy lights. Our little ones favourite colour is blue so that became our colour scheme!

The Dream Team…

All of our suppliers were amazing. Jo and the Pumping House team were on hand day and night in the run up to the wedding. Jo even supported by dad behind the scenes to plan his speech which included some surprises! The venue was styled by Save The Date who completely understood our vision and put everything together so effortlessly. Our beautiful flowers were done by Peonies & Plumes who provided all bouquets, venue flowers and gifts. Our incredible 3 tier wedding cake was created by Storeybook Wedding Cakes and was so tasty, even after dishing out to 20 overnight guests the next day we still had plenty to enjoy ourselves. My bridesmaids and I had our hair styled by Hairway to Heaven Bridal Sophie worked her magic and made us all feel amazing. Our make up was done by Josephine Way who is just incredible. Josephine even supported me to completely change my make up look 3 days before the wedding! The soundtrack to our wedding day was provided by The John Adams Band. We originally saw John at a food festival in 2016 and instantly fell in love with his voice and his vibe. As soon as we had decided we wanted a live band to play throughout the day we knew it had to be John. All of our guests were amazed by him and he just tied everything together for us. To have live music played during our ceremony and for our first dance was such an incredible feeling.

Remi Rose Marsden waited until her due date and was born on Monday 30th September 2019 at 11:26pm.

September Open Day

Sunday September 24th saw our amazing open day here at The Pumping House. Emails began flooding in on Monday from both booked and new brides to tell us how amazing they thought our beautiful venue looked, so if you missed out we though we would share the day!

The Pumping house is such a unique venue that speaks for itself with quirky styling and its original features, most of our couples have fallen for us just based on this. But we all like to get dressed up once in a while and do what we love most and that’s throw a wedding!

When the date was set in our diary we knew who we needed to call; Team Pumping House don’t have recommended suppliers as such we much prefer to get to know individuals and their teams to go on and recommend them to our couples. Only once we ourselves have a built up a good relationship and class them as friends we recommend, this list is growing quite quick 😉

So here they are, with the help of our friends, our open day in pictures… ENJOY!

Save the date event hire and styling are always first choice when it comes to transforming our smazing spaces, they know our venue inside out, well they should really as they have a hidden gem of a showroom in our basement which is just a treasure trove of all things wedding. If you didn’t get the chance to pop down on the open day get in touch for a private appointment, these ladies are just fantastic they can help with as much or as little as you need and will always go that extra mile!

Floral hoops are a huge trend going into 2018, what better way to use them than in our ceremony room as a backdrop for all your guests to adore whilst you say your vows in this stunning room which overlooks our beautiful woodland.

_C7A9536

Not forgetting this amazing bouquet! It was certainly a hit with many of you brides, we saw you all having a cheeky hold whilst swooning the Silk from Little Acorn Silks.

So many of our brides love our Bridal boutique and it looked even more stunning with the addition of this gorgeous gown from Frances Day Bridal

We love nothing more than a talking point, the amazing backdrop behind the top table and the cake swing was certainly just that, when you have a creation as simply stunning as this you know it’s time to get in touch with Sophie at The Confetti Cakery to showcase her delicious cakes!

Saving the best till last… how about having a pizza van rock up to your evening reception? The fantastic Mr and Mrs Pickwicks were another on our list. Having already attended weddings here and with a number of future weddings already in their diary for 2018/19 they jumped at the chance of coming along and meeting you all. We know you love them as much as we do, their pizza tastes pretty good too 😉
